About This Project

Bairro dos Livros has brought a new festival to the city of Porto, with a “covetable book offer”, assured by “independent bookshops, booksellers, publishing houses and specialized book spaces”.

It took place between the 13th and the 22nd of December, right on time for the Christmas’ gift search, and took over “two big aggregating hubs of Porto”, that are also “symbolic centers of the city”: the Montepio building, right at Avenida dos Aliados, and the newly renovated Mercado do Bom Sucesso, in Boavista.

‘Reading is a Carousel’ was the theme chosen to illustrate a program thought to “charm the minds and hearts of book lovers”. “Performances, theatre, debates, book launches, entertainment, music, workshops, storytelling, children and community choirs, authors meetings and a whole lot of other surprises” are some of the guaranteed activities. One of the biggest attractions was the 1st Portuguese Story Slam.

The event was organized in partnership with the Mercado Bom Sucesso’s Society and Porto’s City Hall, through Porto Lazer.
